History of the School of Medicine

The School of Medicine at Lorestan University of Medical Sciences (LUMS) was established in 1991, with the first group of medical students enrolling in 1992. The Laboratory Sciences program was introduced in 1993, initially offering an associate’s degree, later upgraded to a bachelor’s degree in 2008.

By 2009, medical student admissions were expanded to both October and February. Since 2014, a specific number of students have been admitted annually as fee-paying students, further diversifying enrollment opportunities.
