Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology

Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is one of the most significant departments at Lorestan University of Medical Sciences. This department utilizes the services of four full-time faculty members who teach pharmacology and toxicology not only at the School of Pharmacy but also at other schools of LUMS, including School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, School of Allied Medical Sciences, School of Health and Nutrition, and School of Nursing and Midwifery. The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology has a pivotal role in the education of students in the PharmD, M.D., D.M.D., and other programs offered to students at LUMS in associate, B.S., and M.S. levels.

The strategy undertaken by the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology:

This department aims to contribute to the promotion of the academic rank of the School of Pharmacy and LUMS with regard to education and research on toxicology and pharmacology in both national and intentional contexts. We have set several goals to be achieved by the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and as follows:

General goals:

  • Contributing to human knowledge concerning pharmacology and toxicology
  • Conducting practical research that might lead to the fulfillment of the needs of society
  • Promoting the academic status of LUMS with regard to research on pharmacology and toxicology

  • Contributing to human knowledge concerning pharmacology and toxicology
  • Updating the existing knowledge
  • Training the students concerning the specialized issues of pharmacology and toxicology
  • Motivating the students to conduct research on pharmacology and toxicology
  • Extending our relationships with other universities and institutions in national and international contexts
  • Fulfilling the needs of the society through conducting researches
  • Prioritizing the research projects based on the needs
  • Supporting the implementation of practical researches
  • Promoting the academic status of LUMS with regard to research on pharmacology and toxicology
  • Improving the procedures of graduate education in pharmacology and toxicology
  • Conducting the qualitative assessment of research projects
  • Improving the rules and regulations in line with the latest educational and research plans of LUMS
  • Contributing to the implementation of interdisciplinary research projects within LUMS
  • Raising the awareness of researchers concerning distinct aspects of pharmacology and toxicology
  • Teaching the courses of toxicology and pharmacology in the PharmD program.
